Make notes
Alerted by a friend to the existence of The Sentinels tv show, about World War 1 super soldiers.
Adapted from the French bande dessinée Les Sentinelles. I really like the costume design in the TV series and had to make notes. There have been criticisms that the costumes are not 'time period accurate'. An old remark that is levelled at a lot of historic drama. Super soldiers are imaginary, realism is not reality so why not make them look good while doing their 'thing'. Is this glorifying war? Maybe, but like all good storytelling that explores the darker side of humanity, there are repercussions from their heroic homeland actions. The 'hero' is isolated from his family. Citizens are lied too and abused to make them better soldiers in the eyes of their leaders. Would you submit to a super soldier program - a great bod and a nice set of armour - but at what expense to your humanity?
I enjoyed the eight episode series, engaging and it has money behind it. It looks cinematic although the stream I watched seemed to dip in quality from 480p to 1080p which was a bit frustrating. There is a psychic circus sub plot!
