Telekinetic teenage witch
I watched Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Stephen King's novella Carrie and really enjoyed it. A modern take on the 1974 book, which has had a few cinematic takes to date. The long format of an eight episode series suits literary adaptations. They can explore the characters like the texts do - without the two hour runtime of a movie to 'hobble' it.
I did a doodle as I was watching an episode and wished I had done a few more. It's a good looking series.
I redrew the doodle as I wanted more expressive hands.
I needed a background of teenagers burning in hell.
Quickly inked it. Kind of regretted starting so detailed and could have got away with something more abstract.
Composited the two images and added digital colour and texture over the top.
The series ends and hints that there might be a season two. Flanagan has introduced other elements into the Carrie universe that fit in with other projects he has done. I'm all for it. Telekinetic teenage witch's are cool.
